Bar (diacritic)

*** Shopping-Tip: Bar (diacritic)

{{Diacritical marks}} The '''bar''' or '''stroke''' can be a diacritic mark, when used with some grapheme letters in the Latin alphabet Latin or Cyrillic alphabets. When characters have a stroke variant for one case and another kind of variations for the other case, both variants are shown. Letters used for only for phonetic transcription are lowercase only. The characters here comprise all barred/stroked Latin or Cyrillic letter characters from Unicode 4.0. An incomplete list of characters with a bar is below. A shaded box takes the place of letters that do not exist. A box spanning both columns indicates that the letter is caseless. (Not all characters with a bar may display in all web browser browsers, depending on browser version, operating system and available typeface fonts. In each cell, the first character is in your browser's default font, the second in a Unicode-enabled font, if installed on your computer.) {| class="wikitable" |+ style="font-size: larger; font-weight: bolder;" | Characters with Bars ! width="15%" style="background-color: #efefef;" | Uppercase ! width="15%" style="background-color: #efefef;" | Lowercase ! width="30%" style="background-color: #efefef;" | Description ! width="40%" style="background-color: #efefef;" | Usage |- | align="center" style="background-color: #ccc;" |   | align="center" | ƀ {{Unicode|ƀ}} | align="left" | Latin letter ''b'' with stroke | align="left" | Old Saxon and Americanist phonetic notation Americanist linguistic, for a sound analogous to International Phonetic Alphabet IPA beta (letter) beta |- | align="center" style="background-color: #ccc;" |   | align="center" | ᴂ {{Unicode|ᴂ}} | align="left" | Latin small capital letter barred ''B'' | align="left" | Uralic languages Uralic phonetic alphabet |- | align="center" style="background-color: #ccc;" |   | align="center" | ᴯ {{Unicode|ᴯ}} | align="left" | Modifier letter capital barred ''B'' | align="left" | Uralic phonetic alphabet
