The '''Bishop of Portsmouth''' is the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Catholic diocese of Portsmouth Diocese of Portsmouth in the Province of Southwark. The diocese covers an area of 6,339 km² of the counties of Hampshire and Dorset, the areas of the counties of Berkshire and Oxfordshire south of the River Thames, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. The Episcopal see see is in the Portsmouth City of Portsmouth where the seat is located at the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, Portsmouth Cathedral Church of Saint John the Evangelist. The diocese was erected on 19 May 1882 from the Diocese of Southwark (Catholic) Diocese of Southwark. The current bishop is the Right Reverend Roger Francis Crispan Hollis '''Roger''' Francis Crispan '''Hollis''' (who is known as Crispan), the 7th Bishop of Portsmouth.
