The '''Garderegiment Fusiliers Prinses Irene''' is a regiment of the Royal Netherlands Army, named after Princess Irene of the Netherlands Princess Irene, the sister of Beatrix of the Netherlands Queen Beatrix. It is one of two regiments, along with the Garderegiment Grenadiers en Jagers, to be classed as Foot Guards 'Guards'. The regiment was formed in 1946 as the '''Regiment Prinses Irene''', to perpetuate the traditions of the Princess Irene Brigade, a formation of Free Dutch troops formed after the Nazism German invasion of the Netherlands in 1940. The regiment was awarded the status of guards in 1952.
