Hera missile
*** Shopping-Tip: Hera missile
'''Hera''' is a target
Missile missile for development testing of missile defense systems such as
THAAD and
Patriot missile system Patriot PAC-3. In 1992, the [http://www.smdc.army.mil/ US Army Space and Strategic Defense Command] awarded the Theater Missile Defense (TMD) Targets contract to [http://www.crc.com/ Coleman Aerospace]
with [http://www.spacevector.com/ Space Vector] and Aerotherm as sub-contractors. Coleman developed Hera using the second and third stages of the
LGM-30 Minuteman Minuteman II and the guidance section of the
Pershing missile Pershing II.
Because of the range,
Russia claims Hera qualifies as an
IRBM and violates Item 1, Article 6 of the
Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty INF Treaty.
It also appears that Hera is used in the [http://www.te.plk.af.mil/vehicles/sndrockt/sndrockt.html Air Force]
Sounding rocket Sounding Rocket Program.
