United Kingdom. He is the
member of Parliament for
Bury South (UK Parliament constituency) Bury South, and is a member of the
Labour Party (UK) Labour Party. He was first elected in the
UK general election, 1997 1997 general election.
Lewis was appointed
Economic Secretary to the Treasury, a junior ministerial post in the
HM Treasury Treasury, after the
UK general election, 2005 2005 general election. Previously he was a junior minister in the
Department for Education and Skills and
Parliamentary Private Secretary to
Stephen Byers,
Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
He was educated at
William Hulme Grammar School in
Manchester,
Stand Sixth Form College and

He is Vice-Chair of
Labour Friends of Israel, and a trustee of the
