Aylesbury) is a politician in the
United Kingdom. She has been the
member of Parliament for
Burnley (UK Parliament constituency) Burnley since the
UK general election, 2005 and is a member of the
Labour Party (UK) Labour Party.
She was educated at
Balliol College, Oxford and
Birkbeck, University of London Birkbeck College, London, where she took a Masters in Economics. She has previously been chief economist for
Britain in Europe, a councillor in the
London Borough of Lambeth for Vassall ward, and a special adviser to
Patricia Hewitt in the
Department of Trade and Industry. She is married to Pete Colley; they have a daughter. She is niece of
Peter Bottomley, MP, and (many generations back) of Archbishop
James Ussher.
