The Bear Pub sponsors the local cricket team in return for the cricket team getting rinsed every Friday night down there. This mutually agreeable state of affairs benefits the town economy.
There is a small police presence in the town, although the extent of lawlessness does not go beyond the occasional scuffle at the Rugby club on a Friday or Saturday night. This is very well contained by a couple of local coppers who diligently sit in their warm Land Rover eating donuts outside the club as the teenagers spill out into the car park after one too many Bacardi Breezers.
Llandovery is a very friendly town, popular with tourists and bikers who often stop here at the West End Cafe on their way through Wales on the A40.
Famous people associated with Llandovery include outlawTwm Siôn Cati and hymn writer William Williams .
Llandovery is town twinningtwinned with Pluguffan, France.
