Modena) is an
Italy Italian football (soccer) football player. He plays as a
striker for
ACF Fiorentina and the
Italian national football team Italian national team.
He started his professional career at
Modena F.C. Modena in
1994.
After a good
Serie B season with
Treviso F.B.C. Treviso in
1999, he moved to
Vicenza Calcio, playing in
Serie A for the first time. He then moved to
Brescia Calcio and played for two seasons alonside
Roberto Baggio.
He joined
US Città di Palermo Palermo in
2003 and helped the team to win Serie B by scoring thirty goals during the season, consequently gaining his first cap for the national team. In the following season he scored twenty goals.
In July
2005, he was signed by Fiorentina for €10m.
At
September 7, 2005 he became the first Fiorentina player to score a
hat-trick for the Italian national team in a
Football World Cup 2006 (qualification UEFA)#Group 5 2006 World Cup Qualifying match against
Belarus national football team Belarus (which Italy won 4-1.)
Toni made a notable start to the
Serie A 2005-06 season 2005-06 Serie A and currently leads the
Capocannonieri. Luca Toni is one of the first-choice strikers in the Italian national team For the 2006 world cup in Germany.
Luca recently scored in the 4-1 win over Germany in a friendly, Alberto Gilardino, Alessandro Del Piero and Daniele De Rossi were the other scorers.
