'''Markus Buchart''' is a
Manitoba politician. He was the leader of the

1998 to February
2005.

Tuxedo (Manitoba riding) Tuxedo in the

2003, he campaigned in the

Buchart resigned as party leader in February
2005, claiming that Green Party meetings and committees were being disrupted by a small group of unruly and ungovernable members. Six of the party's executive members resigned at the same time.

Green Party of Canada. He was himself challenged by
Nelson Morrison in November of the same year, but retained his position (''Canadian Press'', 13 March 2005).

1986 and
1992, he worked under both
Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba Progressive Conservative and
New Democratic Party of Manitoba New Democratic governments in
Manitoba on tax policy, federal-provincial relations and environmental policy. Unable to reconcile the government's environmental policies with his conscience, he left the civil service in 1992.
Buchart received a law degree from the
University of Manitoba in
1995, and maintained an independent law practice in
Winnipeg, Manitoba Winnipeg until 2004, when he joined the downtown Winnipeg law firm of Tupper & Adams. His practice consists mainly of civil litigation, corporate and commercial work, and environmental law.
