'''Okayama''' (岡山市; -shi) is the capital cities of Japan city of Okayama Prefecture in the Chugoku region of Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 633,705 and the population density density of 1,234.62 persons per square kilometer km². The total area is 513.28 km².
The city was founded on June 1, 1889.
The city is known as the site of the Korakuen Garden and the striking black Okayama Castle. The popular Japanese folklore Japanese folktale of Momotaro may have originated there.
