'''Roof pitch''' is a measure of the incline of a roof, in building construction. Carpenters build rafters to define the pitch of a roof. In the United States, pitch is measured as rise (vertical measurement) over run (horizontal measurement), usually in inches. For example, an "8 pitch" would mean 8 inches of rise over 12 inches (1 foot (unit of length) foot) of run.
