'''Tiverton and Honiton''' is a
constituency represented in the
House of Commons of the
Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one
Member of Parliament Member of Parliament (MP) by the
first past the post system of election.
Boundaries
The constituency is located in east
Devon, covering the towns of
Tiverton and
Honiton and the surrounding areas. It covers much of the district of
Mid Devon.
History
The present constituency of Tiverton and Honiton is the result of the merger of the formerly separate constituences '''Honiton''' and '''Tiverton''', the former having existed from
1640 and the latter from
1615. Both elected two members of parliament until the 1884 Reform Bill reduced the number for both to one.
