Greater Manchester,
England. It has a population of 210,145 (Census 2001) and includes the towns of
Altrincham,
Sale, Greater Manchester Sale,
Stretford, and
Urmston.
The
River Mersey flows through the borough creating North Trafford and South Trafford. The Mersey also acts as the boundary for the historical counties of
Lancashire and
Cheshire.
