'''''Light Years''''' is the seventh album by
Australian singer
Kylie Minogue that was released in 2000. It reached number two on the
United Kingdom album charts, selling over 300,000 copies. ''Light Years'' is largely seen as Minogue's "comeback" album as it saw it her return to her pop roots and to the top of the charts. It sold more than 3 million copies worldwide.
Reissue/Tour edition
Due to the success of the album and the "On A Night Like This" tour, a special Tour Package was released, housing a second compilation CD featuring various remixes. The special edition album was released on
March 5,
2001. Also, for the Australian edition, Minogue's remake of
Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" was included on the second CD, as she performed the song on the tour.

Singles
*"Spinning Around" was the first single and was released in June 2000. It debuted at number one in Australia and the UK. The single marked Minogue's return to mainstream pop music. The video involved Minogue dancing in a packed nightclub and started the tabloids' obsession with her.
*"On a Night Like This" was released in September 2000 and debuted at number one on the
Australian charts and number two in the UK. The song's release coincided with Minogue's performance at the
2000 Summer Olympics Sydney Olympic Games where she sang this song.
*In October 2000, the duet "Kids" with
Robbie Williams (UK) was released. The song, written by Robbie Williams and
Guy Chambers, reached number two in the UK. A different version of this song with a spoken fadeout rap by Williams appeared on his album ''
Sing When You're Winning''.
*"Please Stay" was released in December 2000 and made the top ten in the UK and the top twenty in Australia.

*"Your Disco Needs You" became an underground hit when it was released as a single in Germany and Australia.
*The dance track "Butterfly" proved popular on the club scene. After a remix in 2001, the track was issued in the USA where it was a minor hit on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart.
