Triptych

*** Shopping-Tip: Triptych

{{otheruses}} Image:Harbaville.jpg thumb|240px|right|The most famous of Byzantine ivory triptychs (10th century). A '''triptych''' (from the Greek language Greek ''tri-'' "three" + ''ptychē'' "fold") is a work of art (usually a panel painting) which is divided into three sections, or three Wood carving carved panels which are hinged together. Triptychs were most common with Renaissance painters and sculpture sculptors like Hans Memling and Hieronymus Bosch. Altarpieces in churches and cathedrals, both in Europe and elsewhere, were since the gothic_architecture Gothic period often in triptych-form. One such cathedral is Llandaff Cathedral. The Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp (city) Antwerp, Belgium contains two examples by Rubens.
